Lovely post! I’m relatively new to your blog, maybe about 6 months in. Why did you move to Canada? How long will you stay? (Yes, I’m being nosy!) I want to move overseas as well (to Japan for a year or so) so any advice you can give would be great. Or any links for any posts you may have already covered this would be equally as great. xo

What a lovely re-visit down memory lane. I remember that final dinner that was just hours before you would be on your way to the other side of the world. You seem to be surrounded by loving people no matter where in the world you are xx

All so delightfully lovely, except for the plating of that lamb, which as you say is best left alone.

I think I like your dessert best, for the flavours and the message and the love and the promising start to what has (I believe) been quite a bon voyage thus far. Here is to much more of all of it.

It’s lovely to hear about some memories from this side of the world, did you know Shakahari has opened a new spot in South Melbourne? Smaller, but cute.

And what a lovely dessert, it is absolutely those little things that make the difference 🙂

Oh my gosh. Your waiter took a heady mix of deliciousness and arranged an adorable message of encouragement? What a sweetheart!

‘Tis a relief that you ended this post on such a lovely note (words and dessert-wise) to get the lamb plating out of my mind….

Mmmm, food is so nostalgia-inducing. I like this little reminisce through food.

alas I never made it to the ginger room, which seems doubly depressing now that I live somewhere where the nicest restaurant is the pub. not that I don’t love it, but you know…

Shakahari sounds incredible. I love the look of the raw falafel salad! The flavors in that must be amazing.

I need to say this again: SAVAGE GARDEN ROCKED!

I’ve heard good things about Vegie Bar and that falafel salad looks a treat; need to goooooo.

Aww you’ve got to come home soon right? Don’t ya miss us? 😉

  14. Helen (Grab Your Fork)

The raw falafel salad looks amazing. And look at you now – wreaking havoc across the other side of the world with your signature joy and wonderment. I love that with time comes poignancy. I can’t wait for you to look back at these wonderful moments in another five years time 🙂

Gosh Hannah, such riches and what a departure! I barely remember when I left Australia.. what did we eat that night on the harbour? I haven’t a clue. I remember I wore a black dress and had wacko hair though..

hopefully there are some warm days that are reminding you of the glorious australian sunshine you are missing – I was looking at the picture of you and lisa thinking it looked unlike your recent pics and realised it was the sunshine that I haven’t seen appear much on your blog for ages and ages – but if the sun if not year appearing, I am sure this little spell of nostalgia warmed you up – the aubergine rolls do indeed look a work of art and you have me hankering for shakaharis

YOU DID NOT TELL ME THERE WAS DAWSON’S CREEK MUSIC AS WELL! Any more nostalgia and I’ll have to starch watching episodes of Buffy again…

  18. Emma

I’ve never watched Dawson’s Creek, and I feel pretty okay with that.

But any other nostalgic show or music you might throw at me, and I am totally there. Well, only if they’re ones I like, but chances are I will.

Showing off quite some skin there in the gospel choir intermission. You’re just waiting for warmth to arrive so Canada can get a good look at those legs!

I love all the food! So funny about Lisa and the waiter. Kingfish?! I want to try that!!!

I haven’t been to Shakahari in years, and the last time I was in the parliament state was when I was 13. I haven’t left in ages for someone to say Bon Voyage. This post makes me think of things I haven’t done in a while 😛
