  2. Lexi

Go for it! Step out and enjoy every second of it, Miss. You deserve it, so much! x

    Sexy mama!!! xD

Totally worth it. I rarely spend $$ on clothes, but my mom is the one who shops for me. It’s so nice to treat yourself once in a while, though.

Btw, I thought you got your hair did?!

  4. Shannon

Girl you look gorgey in that dress!

I have SUCH a hard time splurging on clothes… I love that you compared it to your electricity bill. I do the same thing. “This night out cost the equivalent of my gas & electric bill”. Oh, adulthood…

However, have no regrets because that dress looks GREAT!

  5. Alayna @ Thyme Bombe

Lemmejustellyou….you look killer in that dress. And what a nice one it is, I love it!

  6. Lizzi

In my eyes, you are always slinky-malinky 🙂

  7. Anna johnston

  8. Junia @ Mis Pensamientos

yes, always remember the silver lining. hahaha i love the self portrait pics of yourself. i’m still camera shy. 🙂

I am glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t update their wardrobe frequently enough to avoid embarrasing identical photos some years apart! I seem to wear a small proportion of the clothes I own, and keep things I like for ridiculous periods of time. This tends to come out in holiday photos, where the scenery changes but my outfits do not.

On more important matters – that dress is gorgeous (as are you in it) 🙂 I hope the other appears sometime!

What I wouldn’t give for your slim, svelte physique! Excellent, excellent choice on the dress, beautiful friend.

  11. Lisa @ Blithe Moments

That is one hot little dress, you look great.

It is such a great moment when you realise that you can actually afford some nice things in life. I still get a buzz out of being able to decide to do something and just do it.

Anyway, you look great, so keep up with the slinky!

HOT HOT HOT! That dress looks like it was MADE for you! Love iT!

Gorgeous dress … love it. And the hair pulled up looks lovely too. Well done.

very stylish – am sure you will look fab at your events – and I think it is fine to splash out occasionally – esp if you do have a reason!

  15. KayB

if you hadn’t mentioned it, I would have passed those uggs as black leather boots with a nice trim 😀

  16. Gmasydney

You, your hair and your dress all look super duper. Now is your time to have fun so go get the clothes to have it in.

  17. Louise

That dress looks fabulous on you! Glad you splurged. I’m sure you’ll be able to dress it up and down. Love the Slinki Malinki reference BTW- he’s my favourite stalking and lurking adventurous cat. I can still do the first few pages from memory, and I think it must be at least 5 years since I actually read it out loud.

  18. leaf (the indolent cook)

Yay! Sometimes you just gotta treat yourself to something nice.

  19. Christine @ Merf In Progress

Slinki Malinki, yet with cap sleeves for that little bit of innocence.

  20. Errign

LOVE that dress & I love that you treated yourself – you deserve it 🙂

I think it’s a good thing that you’re still wearing clothes that you’ve had for ages – it means they were a good buy because you still like them and they were of good quality as they have lasted long enough for you to get good use of them! Good good good! I lurk around some online forums related to ~teh fashionz~ and it’s kind of depressing firstly how much people spend on clothes they don’t appreciate (e.g. people who have a $7000 credit card debt because they spend so much money on clothes, or people who have 150+ dresses in their wardrobe and can’t even remember buying or wearing half of them – these are real-life scenarios people on these forums have admitted to!) and secondly how much they spend on crappy clothes that won’t last more than a few months (e.g. people who buy heaps of stuff at Supre or wherever because it’s cheap and then just keep having to buy stuff as it falls apart after a few wears). So wearing the same clothes as you see in photos of yourself from 2007 is basically a good thing, I say! I have one or two items hanging around that I bought in 2007, but honestly nothing from before then (possibly because my style has changed so much since my undergrad/honours student days, and 2007 was the year when I started working as a research technician so I actually had money for once and became a bit more discerning about the quality of the stuff I bought).

So making the right choices with your clothes so that you can appreciate them long-term instead of being wasteful and unappreciative is a second silver lining, in a way, right? 😉

  22. Kath (My Funny Little Life)

I love the dress! It also has the perfect cut for you.

Gah, how I miss clothes shopping! I sometimes really like it (and sometimes I don’t), but I’m a bit tight so I better don’t enter a shop at all. 😉

  23. April@MyFoodTrail

That dress really suits your figure! And can I just say how jealous I am that you can remain so slim with all that sugar you consume?! 😛

  24. chopinandmysaucepan

I love the pic of you pigeon-toed in your uggs – mighty cute and a really slim figure too for someone who lives on chocolates!!

  25. Lorraine @ Not Quite Nigella

And the killer thing is that you do slinky so well girl! 😀

  26. hungryandfrozen

Slinky Malinki alright! Love the dress! Feel no shame in spending a little on yourself every now and then (what would Slinky Malinki do if Slinky Malinki had a credit card and opposable thumbs?)

  27. Kath Lockett

Gorgeous dress for a gorgeous girl with a beautiful face and a smokin’ bod – work it!

  28. The Teenage Taste

Weird clothing coincidences like that make my day! 😉
Last week I was looking through some pictures from my family vacation last year and this year. Turns out the day we hit the amusement park I wore the same exact outfit that I did last year. All the pictures look the same! Haha! 😛

  29. Julia @ Boredom Abounds

    Ooh, cute dress!

  30. GirlonRaw

Now you just need to go and get that RED dress!!! Seriously! One of the newsreaders up here was wearing it recently and it reminded me of you. You gotta do it gorgeous!

  31. ck

I love the uggs with the dress, I think it’s a great statement. The dress looks great on you. And, I’m always envious of slim chocolate lovers!

  32. Libby

    I know what you mean!

I’m a voluntary recluse these days because I’m saving up to buy a house and go overseas next year, which means limiting my spending on clothes. I was at a clothes store on Chapel Street yesterday evening, tried on this hot red dress for funsies and when I looked at myself in the mirror, I thought, ‘DAMNTHISISSOHOTIHAVETOHAVEIT!’ *pants pants pants*

Luckily, my rational side took over so I reluctantly put the dress back and told the lady that I might “come back in a few days” and walked out. The said thing is that I’m actually THINKING about coming back to get that dress.

That said, I think it’s alright to treat yourself every now and then if your budget can allow it 😀

  33. Miss Adriennely

A girl can never ever spend “too much” on clothes, clothes = assets! greatest type of investment :p

  34. theresa

Dress envy! I shop at second-hand stores too often to feel no guilt about buying expensive things – Andy always says “another dress?!”

Like you can ever have too many.

  35. Karen

Hannah, you rock that dress! Nothing wrong with keeping clothes forever (I’m quite partial to that myself), but it also feels nice to treat yourself to a new outfit (or two). After all, a girl can’t live on chocolate alone! 😉

  36. Agnes

Va va voom. If you’ve got it, flaunt it. (And you’ve got it.) xx

  37. Katy

Wow love the dress! I know what you mean about not throwing away clothes – I have the same pair of favourite jeans from five or six years ago. Some cheapo bits and pieces in my closet come and go, but the staples last for years.
