A Sparrow In A Hat Can Make a Happy Home, aka Welcome To My New Digs

Hi everyone! Thanks for coming over to this new site of mine. As you can probably tell, this is a rather non-fancy-schmancy-looking new blog.

To help you understand why this is, imagine a classroom filled with Utter HTML/CSS/Technology Nincompoops.

Take a look around that classroom. You’ll soon spot me: I’m the one in the corner wearing the dunce hat.

No, really, I am. I bought this domain and theme about two months ago, and each time I tried to work on it, my brain hurt. Ultimately, I decided to accept that I don’t know how to make many changes, and to leap on over here anyway. My hope is that I’ll get struck with a bolt of website-design lightning in future months, and will suddenly know how to make it prettier.

Until then, welcome, thanks for coming by, and I’d super appreciate it if you could updates your blogrolls/bookmarks/readers/etc. Thanks a squillion!

Oh, and here’s a sneak peek of tomorrow’s chocolate.

It’s a good’un, I promise.

I’m here and will change all my settings – that chocolate looks mighty pretty to me…..

Congratulations on the smart new digs. I didn’t even know that you had to buy a domain name, so there you are, you’re (more than) one up on me, and maybe a lot of us. I do like how Paris is in nice big letters in the tag list.

Must say I’m intrigued by the chocolate for tomorrow. I dare say it’ll be another one that I’ll pine for and drool over and be unable to unearth it in my usual jaunts to shop where a Masterchef shops. What are those purple things? Berries? Flowers? Although the front one looks somewhat like a giant flesh eating insect. Maybe that’s what started the trouble with your toe? A giant flesh eating insect.

Okay, that’s gotta be one of those design-your-own-chocolates. Mmm, I am excited!

You’re braver than I am. Now, all you have to do is provide an email subscription service like you had in your last one – I do hope you can do that here? And can I follow comments like I could in the last one?

HOORAY! Here’s a pot plant (made entirely of chocolate, of course) as a domain warming present. xx

To answer your question, why yes I did happen to register my own domain this morning! You greatly overestimated me in thinking I’d have it all sorted out in 20 minutes though. My programmer boyfriend will have it sorted out for me in 20 minutes, because I lack the requisite knowledge. Actually I’ve run my own domain before and I was fine setting it up, but on the occasions that something went wrong… I’d just ignore it and hope the problem would resolve itself. Now that’s a special skill!

I wish you many happy posts in your new home!

Nice new digs Hannah! I admit I accidentally went here the other day but followed instructions to divert my eyes and go back to the other address. See how obedient I am? 😛

Hey there Miss-Makes-Me-Crave-Chocolate! I like the new place, well done on your sassy .com domain name! Does it make you feel important? It certainly makes you *seem* important, which is probably half the battle…

Oooh new look! And tmr’s choc looks absolutely heavenly! Looking forward to it…

Hi! Welcome to your new space! How exciting — your own domain name. It’s like moving out of your parents house for the first time, except for virtual. And if your parents were wordpress.

  13. Jess

Awesome!! I love it , you have done an awesome job

  14. Conor @ HoldtheBeef

    Yay, welcome home!!!

If only new sites came like IKEA stuff and had picture instructions and all the tools in a bag (let’s not bring Freedamn into this discussion).

  15. L-Izzle

Hooray! This makes me all kinds of happy 🙂

  16. Fiona

    You did it!!

  17. Simply Life

    The new site looks great!

Do you want to know how long I’ve had my own domain and done absolutely nothing with it? An embarrassingly long time. I had it for a few months before the friend who set it up for me offered to just make it bounce to my wordpress blog, and it’s been like that ever since (really, try it!) Anyway, congratulations! I applaud your initiative. Was it hard to move all your old posts over?

  19. Lisa (bakebikeblog)

Congrats on the new website! It is all very daunting though (the computer stuff that is!)

Congratulations,Wayfaring chocolate! For a young woman who has travelled alone in Japan, the USA, and half of Europe I am sure you are exaggerating the TERRIFYING bit!

  21. Amber Shea @Almost Vegan

Yayyy and congrats on the URL! I happen to think your blog is QUITE fancy-looking, already way cuter than mine! Are you using a WP theme?

huffing and puffing and finally here but all behind the eightball and I saw you have a new domain and yet I still put my comments on the old blog – life is a bit like this right now but will come back another night to check out more

oops did I say your new blog is looking very swanky – not bad for a techno numpty 🙂
