About

IMG_7268Hannah. Mid-20s. Australian born and bred. Moved to Canada sight unseen on a whim in 2012, because, well, why not? Lover of chocolate, vegan desserts, enormous bowls of vegetables, laughter, exhilaration, adventure, accidentally singing out loud in public, every kind of nut butter imaginable, hugs, editing, correct grammar, travel, and hunting down incredible/incredibly awful snacks in grocery stores all over the world.

I believe in the power of stardust, sparkles, semicolons, conversations with loved ones that eddy into the depths of secret truths, coffee, language, kindred spirits, and warm socks. Life is an unfolding universe of possibility, and I never want that to change.

  2. Hi. :-) I found your blog today from your comment on Carrots ‘n Cake. I’m a 25 year old New Zealander also doing (or trying to do!) a PhD. While consuming copious amounts of chocolate. So I know we have at least two things in common, hee.

  3. Great to know more about you Hannah. I recently went on a three day chocolate course in Melbourne at the Savour school and learned so much. I have now taken an interest in chocolate and will definitely be reading your blog more.

    • Oh, I’m so envious, Trissa! That must have been wonderful. Now, I just have to move to Melbourne *then* try and get into that course… :P

  4. Hi Hannah, I stumbled across your blog after reading ‘Carrots ‘N Cake’ and I was impressed with your cute little blog (and the fact that you’re also from Canberra). I’ve got a blog which originated in Canberra and continued whilst I was in Sydney and now is based back in Canberra (www.goodfoodweek.blogspot.com). I also have a friend who blogs (http://delatierrablog.blogspot.com) and also has classes on the art of cooking Mexican (and making chocolate). I look forward to continuing to read your blog.

    • Thank you, Shari! I’m always excited to discover another Canberran blogger. One of these days we’ll all have to have a big meet-up! Looking forward to checking out your blog :)

  5. Just ran across your blog and I’m so glad I did! How cool that you got to travel around so much and I love that you kept your blog even after your traveling ended. :) Looking forward to reading more!

  6. I’m really enjoying to read your blog, although I think seeing (and therefore craving) so much chocolate will do no good to my waistline…
Have added your blog to the list of food blogs I follow :)

  8. Hi Hannah, I saw one of your comments over on Wannabe Chef where you mentioned using coconut flour to make a coconut “cream”. I was wondering if you would share your recipe for that? Thanks!

    • Hi Wendy! The coconut “cream” is hardly a proper recipe, and I think I heard of it over at Heather Eats Almond Butter. It’s basically one part coconut flours to three parts liquid (I use non-dairy milk) with sweetener (stevia, agave, maple syrup) to taste, stirred together until it thickens. Delicious :)

  9. hi hannah! just stumbled to your site via who knows who else’s but im so glad i did!
my sis is about to move (back to) australia, so its neat to have a random food blogger connection to down under :) your humor is so fun and your granola recipes look stellar. cant wait to read more!

  10. You have a standard poodle and love chocolate and other healthy lifestyle cooking! We’re BFF’s already and we didn’t even know it. Can’t wait to try your recipes.

  11. Hi Hannah! I loooove your blog. I live in Ottawa Canada, so I especially enjoyed reading your post on How To Fall In Love With Toronto in 12 Easy Steps :D Hilarious! I nominated you for the Super Sweet Blogging Award and YOU WON! Check out the rules and pass the award on to other bloggers by going here: http://tinyurl.com/98s43hg Thanks for sharing a part of your world with us by the way! xo

    • Aw, thank you Maria! Your words are so sweet, and I’m thrilled to learn of another Canadian blogger. I do hope to visit Ottawa sometime in this next year! At present, I’m a bit swamped with my travel posts backlog to take part in the blog award meme, but I truly appreciate having been nominated!

  12. Dear Hannah,
I happened to stumble on your site and discover an adorable comment on the product that I make. It is the Croquants de Cordes that you bought in France, in Monoprix, back in 2010. I can’t thank you enough for such a comment. It is for people like you that I continue running the family biscuit factory. It would be a pleasure to show you around the factory if you ever come to our area in Southwestern France. If not, let me know where I can send you some biscuits as a thank you!

    • Oh Lea, I am so happy that you happened across my post about your biscuits! I can still remember that first moment of crunching into the sweetness and feeling utterly overwhelmed by the deliciousness. I’ll send you an email now :)

  13. Hannah! I’m glad I found you! I’m here with my cousin who is a nutritionist is São Paulo. We are loving your blog and your recipes are inspiring her to do some cooking. I am getting excited to try whatever she makes =) Hope Toronto is treating you well.

  14. Hi, I’ve left comments on some of your posts before.. but quick question for you – have you ever tried ‘Bear Bar’ Chocolates? It’s made in BC, and is insanely good – especially the dark chocolate with toasted almonds. I believe it’s only about 56%.
    Try it!!

  15. Hi Hannah,

What a wonderful Blog you have going on here! I’m fairly new to “real” chocolate ( a shame being Belgian and all) and while trying to get some info on the web I stumbled upon your site. I just love to read your view on different chocolates and snuggle secretly while reading your “horrible snack adventures”.

    Keep up the good work!

I’ve started my own little blog, just about chocolate, http://www.beantobar.wordpress.com. Just to keep my attention high when tasting chocolate. And hey, whenever you’re interested in some products you can’t find overthere, just give a yell, I might be able to help. :-)

    Have a great day!

    • Thank you so much for your lovely comment, Kris! It’s always wonderful to meet other people passionate about chocolate :) (Funnily enough, I wasn’t exactly blown away by the chocolate in Belgium, but I fell hard for pain d’epice and Speculoos cookies!)

  16. I’ve stumbled across your site thanks to the blog ‘Hungry and Frozen’ and I’m so glad I did. Your loves are all the things I value too (coffee! chocolate! warm things for the limbs!) and I will definitely be reading often. x

    • Thank you for the lovely words, Natalia! High five for toasty extremities and delicious things in the colour of brown. ;) x

  17. “I believe in the power of stardust, sparkles, semicolons, conversations with loved ones that eddy into the depths of secret truths, coffee, language, kindred spirits, and warm socks” –> you just warmed the cockles of my heart <3
