ok – I need some of that caramel gelato stat!!!

  2. Lou

OK so REAL ice cream is the thing I miss the MOST being vegan. Oh sweet ice cream how I long for your tender (icey) touch. Sigh. That salted caramel tub-of-joy looks/sounds frickin wicked knickers. I would dive in head first.

That skinny cow shit looks WRONG so wrong. JUST EAT SOME REAL ICE CREAM PEOPLE – ENJOY IT. Gah.

Good thing coconut ice cream is pretty awesome – there is an amaazing local company here on the GC that makes the BEST stuff, so I get my creamy cold treats that way 😉

    Welcome to nyc!!!
You must go to Grom while here-its an italian gelato shop with several dairy free sorbettos and really so. Awesome. So is Il Labratorio di Gelato on houston st, the manhattan board has the best food advice for nyc, just type in what you are searching for
I hope you have a great trip while you’re here!

No offense, but I’m judging you for even trying Skinny Cow. Gross.

I told my Austalian friend tonight that I gave you a Moon Pie and she shamed me. Sorry again, in advance. You really must tape the trail of this prosessed American travesty. And Lisa says she must meet you when you come back to the ATL. 😉 Miss your face!!!!!

There’s a market for cupcake batter ice cream? Who eats cupcake batter? I do think Americans need to re-think how much sugar they put into everything – shame about that tub not worthy to have its lid removed! And you’re in NYC? It seems every post comes from a different part of the globe. I would like the pistachio gelato too – and not just because it’s a pretty colour xx

so glad you found some decent ice cream – just sorry you had to try so many souless sweet ones before finding a good few – boy life is tough in new york 🙂

This post is like a roller coaster of ice cream! The lowest point must surely be the Skinny Cow – I can hardly stand the Australian SC options that grace our freezer aisles and hope we never sink to low fat cupcake batter ice cream! – but the pistachio and salted caramel and babamba (babamba!) make up for it. Was the chestnut filling gooey or hard? The picture looks gooey, which seems like the epitome of ice cream magic.

Honey and chestnut ice cream bar?!!!!! I have got to figure out how to get this in my face. I’m always slightly underwhelmed by the Talenti pistachio though. I keep buying it because I want real pistachio flavor, but it mostly tastes like vanilla ice cream with roasted pistachios to me. The pistachios are really good, but I want more pistachio flavor in the ice cream too.

Unlike Lou, I don’t miss real Ice Cream at all. However, in my pregan days, Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food was my flavor of choice.

I’m still yet to try Ben and Jerry’s and your post is far from encouraging, haha!
Glad you were able to cleanse your palate with the Talenti ones, though, they sound fabulous.

  12. Lorraine @ Not Quite Nigella

OMG all of those new flavours! And I don’t even eat ice cream that much but it makes me want to dive in! 😀

  13. msihua

OMG Sea Salt Caramel? And you are a pint! Aii Baramba!! 😛

  14. Heidi - Apples Under My Bed

Ok I do need to get on this talenti bandwagon. But Hannah! We went to Ample Hills and the salted caramel?? The best I’ve ever tasted. Ever! Usually I’m a bit ‘meh’ about salted caramel coz all I taste is sweet but THIS WAS SO GOOD! Better go back & enjoy some more, just for you x

That was a super fun post! Totally loved it! Haha, I had a conversation with my coworker the other day, she asked me if I liked Skinny Cow ice-cream, I said it was terrible, she said she thought it was awesome. She only eats Atkins bars and protein powder. So there you go.

Also I find the sexy reclining pose of the cow on the pint (pint!) lid disturbing. Have you ever googled “sexy reclining kangaroo?”

Despite my lack of commenting I have been reading your blog. I am glad you reviewed the Ben and Jerry’s. It’s suddenly everywhere here and my sister-in-law has been raving about it, which makes me suspicious that I won’t like it. Now I know. You just saved me $13.00.

I find the whole Skinny Cow Cupcake Batter notion ridiculous. Skinny Cows don’t eat Cupcake Batter, that’d be how they’re Skinny Cows. I haven’t had any icecream since Paris….. never mind that it’s 3.9 degrees outside. I don’t get the whole red velvet cake thing. I tried it a couple of times in Houston 2 years ago- it was bad chocolate cake coloured bright red. Ho hum.
