Judging by almost every blog in my Google Reader at the moment, I should be writing a “2012 In Review” post. I can’t, though. I can’t sum up this year in one post, this vibrant intoxicating shattering incredible year which has seen me power through crazy-stressful work situations then leap into a wild overseas adventure culminating in moving to a country I’d never visited before, a year in which I cried at the funeral of a dear friend then found a squillion new friends overseas, a year where I both inflicted and received heart shatterings, a year that led to belief and action and fear and hope all coalescing into a brilliant shining swirl of everythingeverything inside of me.
You see? I can’t write coherently. What I can do, though, is rummage through my blog to pick out a favourite recipe from each month of 2012. That I can do for you.
January:
Raspberry Whip (Gluten-Free and Dairy-Free)
February:
Coconut Date Treats of Raw Vegan Sweetness
March:
April:
Pecan and Coconut Friands with Raspberries (Gluten-Free and Dairy-Free)

June:

With an honourary mention to:
Almond and Coconut Cake with Raspberries (Gluten-Free and Dairy-Free), because it was a reader favourite.
Happy New Year, everyone! I can’t wait to find out what 2013 has in store for us.

I love these round ups! I’d forgotten about those magic bars… they (still) look sooooo good.
Happy 2013!!
Happy 2013 to you too, Laura!
I am having a hard time putting together my favourite posts of the year, too, but I feel like it is a tradition I want to continue. I just don’t want to write the post. Minimalist, it will be!
Following your lead, of course.
Teehee, was it so obvious that I didn’t really want to write this post? I feel like round-ups are a bit of a cop-out, but everyone seems to like them so I huffed my way into it… for all that, though, I’m genuinely looking forward to yours! You remind me that savoury food can also be delicious
I’m glad to see these are all sweet recipes! Happy new year to you, Hannah! I hope 2013 is full of fun and fabulousness
Hah! Yes, I think I posted perhaps two savoury recipes in all of 2012. The heart wants what the heart wants. Happy New Year, Theresa!
Happy New Year lovely lady!!!
You too precious face!
Oh, great recipes Hannah … I’m going to make that raspberry coconut cake soon and of course I’ve made the Raspberry Whip and Poppyseed Cake many times. Am also going to check out the Raw Vegan Mini Huckleberry Cheesecakes but with different berries. And, what a year you’ve had eh? I wish for you a 2013 that is just as exciting but a little less stressful.
Such a year. Thinking back on 2012, it’s crazy to think of how much has happened and changed. The first half of the year was so insane (shingles?! Do you remember how I got shingles?!?!), and the second such a whirlwind of adventure. Here’s to adventures of a different sort (though some of the same
) in 2013.
P.S. I think you’ll love the cake. I’m sure it would be perfect for one of your reading/patchwork nights!
I’d say that a year that can not be succinctly summarised is summarised by that very fact
I love these selections and am impressed that you managed to do it by month. My kitchen creations are so hit and miss, and so random in their creation timing, that my favourites are not evenly spread over each of the months of the year!
Happy New Year again, and many happy, sparkling, glowing wishes your way for 2013 xo
I honestly couldn’t have narrowed it down any other way. Otherwise it was too overwhelming to even start choosing! Happy New Year to you, dear one! I will wish for a cool change for you, at least weather-wise.
xo
happy new year hannah – hoping it brings many great joys and fun surprises – am glad you included the almond and coconut cake because I loved it and thought it must be in your best of – I also loved your rambling introduction that just oozed happiness – a great way to end the year
Thank you Johanna. You are always so kind to me! I’m so glad you liked the cake, though I’m sure it didn’t even come close to the magic cakes you’ve created in your own kitchen. Happy New Year!
Ha ha ha, your “incoherent” rambling is enjoyable. I love the look of the fancypants magic bars (I’ll admit that at least half of that is because of the name), the chocolate cheesecake mousse cups (anything cheesecake and I’m there), and the cocoa, though I have yet to find lavender around here. Happy new year!
Hah! I should force you to read some of my four-page-long stream of consciousness writings, then.
Happy New Year to you too!
I’m so glad you posted the almond and raspberry cake. I was scrolling through thinking, ‘where is it?’ as I was sure it must have been a favourite. I’ve re-blogged that recipe, cooked it and shared it and it’s become a favourite of those who’ve tried it. Happy New Year, Hannah xx
And for that I thank you, Charlie! Spreadin’ the raspberry love. It’s a good thing.
Unrelated-and-a-half but I’ve just been told that Canadian stamps have the Queen on them ?!??! I’m from the UK and this just seems like weird crazy madness to me, is it true?xx
Why would that be weird crazy madness? Canada, like Australia, is part of the Commonwealth, with the Queen as the official head. I haven’t paid any attentions to stamps here, but I’m not quite sure why you’re so astonished at the idea?
I guess it’s cos we’re so used to her it’s weird thinking of people so many thousands of miles away also being used to her and having her on stamps! Also Also cos I’m kinda anti- monarchist it seems odd Thayer-colonies would embrace it but anyway I do think it’s funny!x
She’s our Queen too
(Though I’d vote for Australia to become a Republic if they gave us the chance through a referendum!)
Ok, (also lol at my drunk-on-an-iPhone typo/autocorrect of “that ex-colonies to “Thayer colonies”…. dear Appple, who is Theyer and what relation are they to ‘that’?!?!) it seems this is just me being a bit odd.
My apologies and please don’t think less of me! Happy New Year xxxx
I find it too difficult to do round-ups, so I just appease my readers every year with a cocktail instead. Heheh. What a wonderful year it has been for you and more to come! Happy 2013!
There was no way I could write about the substance of my year, but picking one recipe from each month felt manageable (and not many people seem to have realised it was a total cop-out, so bonus!
) I would try one of your cocktails, despite being a ridiculous lightweight. Happy New Year!
Oooooomg I want to make EVERYTHING from this list! What are the chances of you making a trip to Melbourne to make these for me? XD
Sure! Buy me the $2000+ round trip ticket and I’m there.
I’m all for the fancy pants bars. Haven’t made them yet. They look so good. Oh Hannah whatta year. Glad I ‘met’ you and really hope you go swimming ahead – with words, with life, with love. You will!! Xcat
Oh, Cat. I don’t think you meant to, but you almost made me cry. I wish I had your certainty. xo
P.S. Happy New Year! I’m truly glad to have met you too.
