Sweetly Raw Vegan Caramel Pecan Choccie Clusters and Jumbo Almond Butter Cups

Last month, I had the honour of being invited to stay with my dear friend Heathy in her northern Ontario winter wonderland home. I experienced a week of such soulfriendship and magic that it quite took my breath away, and I look forward to writing about it soon. (Heather has already spoken of my visit on both her blogs.)

For now, though, I simply must tell you about the glories of Heathy’s raw vegan chocolates, which you can (should! must!) order directly via her blog.

Heather describes her Raw Vegan Caramel Pecan Choccie Clusters as “pecans and caramel in dark chocolate” but, personally, I like to think of them as “the freshest nutty-butteriest pecans hugged by rich silky slightest-hint-of-coconut caramel all enveloped in incredibly crisp glossy black-dark deep perfect raw chocolate”.

(Heathy, you’re welcome to change your packaging to use my words. You might need bigger labels, though.)

I can’t get over how wonderful Heather’s raw chocolate is. It’s perfectly tempered with a firm snap as you bite into it, and has an intense chocolate flavour with only a trace of the tanginess of raw cacao. Moreover, the caramel combined with the pecans creates notes of shortbread, malt, and vanilla. Truly lovely.

A world of swoon. A glorious, fabulous, blissful world of swoon.

Heather, how you be with creating of the magic so much? You me make forget words proper use good.

Imagine this, my friends: the same incredibly dark, rich, crisp-yet-silkily-melting and intense-but-not-bitter dark chocolate as is used in the Choccie Clusters. Crunchy almonds generously scattered on top, drawing you closer.

Then, inside, a decadent almond butter filling that tastes like so much more than the sum of its parts. Heather captures the essence of fresh-nutty-creamy almonds and then heightens their inherent sweetness with vanilla and a hint of salt.

These raw vegan treats might be called “Jumbo”, but don’t you dare try to convince me I’m not supposed to eat each hefty cup in one sitting.

That said, with the right person, I just might be convinced to share.

North Americans can order these treats (and more!) from Heather by following this link. Heather also recently released her newest e-Book, Raw Chocolate Dream, packed full of recipes for similar raw vegan chocolate delights. I can personally vouch for the Moonie Pies and (be still my heart!) the Caramel Peanut Chocolate Bars, otherwise known as raw vegan Snickers.

    • Funny you say “peanut butter cup”, this was actually the almond butter one but Heathy’s Jumbo Peanut Butter Cup is equally magnificent!

  1. I’m so far behind in reading the posts on your beautiful blog. I must catch up as soon as possible.
These pictures look too good to be true. Caramelised pecans! Oh my goodness.

I hope you are well prepared for the cold weather over there. Our prime minister said it was an unusually cold morning in Canberra today on the telly! :)

    • I hope the posts don’t disappoint!

I’m slowly but surely building up my arsenal of anti-dying-in-winter clothes. Thermals, scarf, extreme mittens (they’re for skiing, and people seem amused that I’m wearing them already, when it’s not even technically winter)…

    • Exactly. The only thing Reese’s has going for them is that they’ve started making itsy bitsy teenie weenie peanut butter cups, and we all know how much fun it is to be able to eat forty of something.

  2. I spoke to an Amish person yesterday!!! It was like a dream come true. And I got to listen to them talking in their singsongy Pennsylvania Dutch. They were selling homemade peanut butter cups that looked amazeballs. These, of course, look good too:)

    • I almost wish you hadn’t written the third sentence, because the rest of this is so completely insane and out of the blue that I actually prefer it that way. ;)

  3. What a shame we can’t have them down under … Love the look of them … Pretty labels too. I particularly love the look and oink of the London one.

    • I almost choked on my hot cocoa reading your comment. “[T]he look and oink of the London one”?? I almost hope this isn’t an autocorrect mistake, because I want you to explain it to me!

        • My hope is that this becomes one of our long-lasting inside jokes, quite like “gooseneck speed”. The oink of the London one!

  4. OH my gosh. That cross section shot of the almond butter cups? To die. I had my first sample of raw vegan chocolate recently and am smitten. These look soooo gooooooooood.

    • The Pana chocolate? That’s definitely the only good raw chocolate I’ve found in Australia. Good raw chocolate abounds here in North America though!

  5. Handmade, super-decadent almond butter surrounded by a dark chocolate shell = The ultimate holiday gift? Yes, I do believe so. Seriously lusting over here. <3
