Dessert is indeed the best part of life! Eyes widened at the description of the roast pumpkin, bacon, milk chocolate, and nut butter dessert. How interesting!

  2. Kate (What Kate is Cooking)

Wow, I want to go to Melbourne to experience this! Pumpkin mayonnaise?! I hate mayonnaise, but I’ll try anything with pumpkin, so I would love that one. What a crazy combination of flavors in all of them- looks amazing!

  3. Ellie@fitforthesoul

ahhhhhhh golly geeee!! I adore this place! so chic and fun~sounds like you girls had a blast together~
hahaha, I can totally picture the girl sticking the cookie in your mouth to help you settle down 😛

  4. Sarah B @ Bake + Bike

Oh my, this is all so fun! Edible murals? An entire wall of dessert ingredients? Men drooling over mousse?

  5. Victoria (District Chocoholic)

I think heaven looks a lot like Burch and Purchese. Every day, you get 12 of those dark chocolate pear hazelnut things. For breakfast. First breakfast.

Sign that you are blogging pros: Camera-friendly brightly colored shirts — in complementary pink and blue, clearly another psychic connection.

Hahahaha!! HAHAHAHAHA!! I’m trying hard to not roll out of bed laughing :p

What POPPYCOCKn you knew we were AH-MUH-ZING when you laid eyes on my awesomeness! It had nothing to do with feeding u chocolate! Okay maybe it did a bit! Come back soon! We (I) miss you, the Boy is still recovering from our incessant chatter and refuses to sing with me 🙁

  8. Fatbooo

Hahaha bring your sleeping and live there forever… lolololol!! Love the way you describe the flavours. And you beat me to it, I haven’t been to Burch & Purchese yet! 🙂

  9. Heidi - Apples Under My Bed

wow, and this is just the beginning…I can only imagine the epic-ness of it all. It’s already epic! I’ve never been to B&P, must try it out. Free cookies too, yay! You had me at chocolate shortbread. Loved reading of your love for it all, and I-Hua too – she’s lovely! No ideal about X-men though, I’d just nod and possibly, shamefully, pointed out that hugh jackman was in that movie…was he?

Yay, I knew you would love Burch & Purchese! I need to go back there again. So they have seating now? Awesome!

  11. Julia @ Boredom Abounds

Oh, that chocolate, pear and hazlenut one look divine – I love that combination of flavours!

  12. chanel11

Ahhh Gambit & Rogue, how I loved their banter – Mon ami…

And now I know to make sure I get some of those nutella cookies when I visit!

  13. Hannah (tickledtofu)

Oh my gosh those look SOOO AMAZING!!! Like insanely amazing!!

  14. Agnes

Omg, you got into a CAR WITH HER?! But she’s a loon! Oh wait, guess that means you two were a match made in dessert heaven. 😉

  15. Johanna GGG

Sounds like a fairytale evening – because in fairytales you can get into a car with a stranger offering candy and find that they are a princess in disguise – and takes you to a palace of wonders – of course I long to go there but it is the other side of the tracks so chances are slim at the moment

  16. Kari @ bite-sized thoughts

All I can say is, next time I am in Melbourne, I am going to Burch and Purchese. Nothing will get in the way!

  17. Lorraine @ Not Quite Nigella

It sounds like I need to make my way here on my next Melbourne trip! All of those sweet goodies! I’m drooling. And I-hua is such a lovely lass too 🙂

  18. penny aka jeroxie

So much dessert! Too much sweet… wait… did I say too much?

  19. chocolatesuze

woah that shelf of ingredients looks awesome and the idea of bacon and nut butter sounds crazy delish!

  20. Lizzi

I’ll take six of each please.

  21. Louise

I am so definitely there on my next trip to Melbourne. I hope that is this year, but am not sure at this stage. David Lebovitz introduced me to the concept of caramelized white chocolate- I think he used it in an icecream from memory. It sounded particularly scrumptious when he made it. It looks particularly scrumptious here. I love the Wonka-esque mural- I don’t think I’d have any problem licking the walls.

  22. Emma

While not a fan of pumpkin, mayonnaise is my favorite food group. Thus, I bet the pumpkin mayonnaise is frickin delightful!

I’ve never bought any desserts as beautiful as these, or seen a wall of ingredients as lovely as the one above. An 8+ hour drive is nothing (sort of) for these wondrous things.

I never cared much for Gambit. Was it the Cajun accent? Maybe. He always seemed a bit like the Ness of comic-land to me (although much more grown-up).

  23. Cait's Plate

Now this is my kinda post! Dessert is absolutely the best part of any eating experience!

    I-Hua is an amazing photographer!

  24. Priyanka

You know Hannah, it is very bad to tempt people with these mouth watering delicacies when the person reading it is still hungry after lunch 🙂

  25. Monique

This is pretty epic. I love your dessert finds, I would love to live vicariously through you! 🙂

  26. Lisa (bakebikeblog)

    Holy deliciousness.
    That is all 🙂

  27. Shannon

Whoaaaaaa. I can’t decide which of those cakes I’d pick if I had to choose just one. They all look so delicious. I am so jealous of your sugar adventures!

  28. Errign

Ahhh dessertgasm. Everything looks so delicioussss.

  29. Bianca @ Confessions of a Chocoholic

I love your adventures! That chocolate shortbread cookie with homemade Nutella? I want it! And I would’ve joined your brother and his friend going into rapture for that mousse too…
    PS – I am a fellow X-Men geek 😉

  30. Karen

Holy cow! These desserts look amazing. And the wall of ingredients…swoon. There’s a pastry shop with similar outrageous concoctions right across from my gym. How evil is that?! Can’t wait to see the rest of the dessert places you hit up.

  31. Christine (Merf)

That must what Heaven looks like.

  32. Amber Shea @Almost Vegan

“caramelised white chocolate and vanilla mousse, crunchy macadamia praline, passionfruit jelly, caramelised white chocolate velvet spray.” — that even READS like an orgasm! Looks and sounds incredible, and right up my alley.

  33. Anna Johnston

OMG! DrOoLiNg, I actually went forth and disinfected my computer screen so I could safetly lick it. Gawd. Holy Hubcaps ……. I WANT…. Roast Pumpkin, Milk Chocolate, Bacon, Nut Butter. Did ya bring me back something special? Did Ya? Did Ya???
PS: Totally digging the flower piece on the wall, its ROCKIN! 🙂 That’d look awesome in my kitchen…. HMMMMMM…. Up for a mission to retrieve it? It’d be a wicked house warming present. LOL. Okay, enough randomness from me. See you soon bestie! Xxx

Hello! How wonderful to know that more people have latched onto B&P irresistibles! When we first blogged about it, they only had something a 60% like voting on urbanspoon. You can visit our journal-blog to read about our own experience from late April:

    Isn’t I-Hua just lovely?

Haha I’ve just come back from several weeks of food blogging hiatus, went on your blog and saw that you went to MELBOURNE?!?! How did I miss this?!

I was in South Yarra on Friday, walked down Chapel Street on my way to a clothing sale and actually walked past Burch and Purchese – it looked pretty from the outside but I didn’t think much of it at the time so I didn’t walk in. Big, big mistake. Looking at the amazing photos above, I sooo wished I did! Next time 🙁

  36. Camille

Oh, yeah, caramelized white chocolate is amazing, isn’t it? That dessert sounds like perfection, with the crunchy macadamia brittle and the tangy passionfruit… I want one now, despite having just finished off a batch of lavender-mint chip ice cream. 🙂

  37. Camille

Indeed it was. And I guess you’ll just have to console yourself with your Vita-Mix. 😉
