Thank you for my magnificent weekend holiday in Melbourne. Thank you for ensuring that I shan’t ever regret the decision to squeeze a mini-break into an incredibly busy and stressful month, because there was not a single element of this jam-packed-full-on-whirlwind-laughter-filled-deliciousness-encompassed-self-worth-building weekend that I didn’t enjoy*, so much so that the term “enjoy” doesn’t feel quite enthusiastic enough. However, “enjoy” shall have to suffice, as I am running on four hours sleep right now.
It’s not often I leave the house (or in this case, my brother’s house) for socialising shenanigans at 11am and, but for a brief stop back in the afternoon, don’t return home until 5am, somehow fitting in both an amazing lunch and a dinner involving ten desserts. And all this after a day which included a work meeting attended by a government minister, hours talking and laughing with a spyman and my brother’s housemates, and falling asleep after 1am. Oh, and then there was the farewelling of Melbourne this morning with dessert-breakfast and a visit to the Queen Victoria Markets, in which samples-scavenging-fun was had.
I can’t wait to tell you all about this weekend past, but for now (remember the four hours sleep thing?) I’ll leave you with two snippets of my adventuring to whet your appetite:
1) A photo of but one of ten desserts shared with I-Hua, swooned over during our Reverse Dinner…
From the Magical Wonderland of Burch & Purchese
2) And proof that I take frozen yoghurt very, very seriously…
* There may have been one point, at the party at 2:30am this morning, when I thought I was going to turn into a pumpkin and became slightly antsy. But then I remembered that these are the years to stay up late spinning between group singalongs of Wonderwall, getting photography and life advice from old-new friends and discovering the deliciousness of espresso martinis, and so I kept laughing.
