How’d the sandals go in the rain?

  2. L-Izzle

My favourite thing about this post is that i REALLY REALLY seriously like the socks/sandal/outfit combo in the second picture. Like, A LOT! Those socks are bitchin’, and you are just generally hugely cool. So whatevz! Rock on, homegirl! Glad it went well 🙂 🙂

  3. thehungryscholar

Those are some sexy boots, hot mama.

I hope you get my chocolate soon!

  4. Agnes

Hang on, I lost count – who won the fight?? Oh wait – you did! BECAUSE YOU HAVE YOUR NAME ON YOUR OFFICE. Go Hannah!

(I hope the toe gets better too.) x

  5. Lisa (bakebikeblog)

haha oh no! silly toe indeed 🙂 Glad to hear that you “won” in the end though!!

  6. Kath Lockett

I love the boots – no argument there …

….but I adore the socks-n-stocks look! You’ll be memorable! Your students will never forget the first day you tutored them!

Best of luck with the healing bit though.

I’ve had the Sahale nuts featuring “almonds, apples, and flax seeds, tickled with date, balsamic vinegar and cayenne.” So so tasty.

I like reading these snippets from your days. Keep ’em coming. Also, cute boots-skirt-leggings combo, I plan to make it a staple of the upcoming months. HEAL THAT TOE so we can see more of those boots in action!

love your blog title/name…had to click over after seeng you on Amber almost vegan’s blog…i am a vegan choco lover myself 🙂

Socks-n-stocks. Love it. And, having seen them in the flesh (as it were), I can say they had a certain je ne sais quoi. Go tutor Hannah.

Nice boots Hannah! I have to tell you about this sour toe cocktail that they have in the Yukon in canada. They use a human toe and they drinker is said to down the drink and kiss the toe. Now that is scary stuff. Now this has nothing to do with you of course but it was a toe tale that I thought I should share with you (at the risk of sounding like a lunatic) ! 🙂

You would have wowed them whatever you wore! Go tutor Hannah indeed.
I love that office with your name on it. And don’t we love your Mum – what would we do without her!

Fiona: That’s where the plastic bag came into play 😉

L-Izzle: OMG-like-a-teenager, really? Wow, perhaps I’m more stylish than I gave myself credit for 😉

TheHungryScholar: *blushes* I actually have received the chocolate, and you are amazing, and thank you!!

Agnes: You know what I bet the reason for the toe-saga is? BRUSSELS SPROUTS. More specifically, my eating of them. Thoughts?

Lisa: Thank you! Though really, the toe is and has been winning for the past twelve months. I just like to pretend otherwise, sometimes…

Kath: Aw, thank you! I’d never thought of perceiving my “look” in a positive light..!

Lauren: Oh, you have no idea how gratified I am to hear that! After I clicked “post” I completely second-guessed this post and wished I could delete it – I’m now glad I didn’t, if you liked it 🙂 And let me tell you… if my toe ever gets better, I am wearing nothing but my new boots, heels, and old favourite heels FOREVER.

Averie: Thanks for popping by! I must admit not every chocolate here is vegan, but I’ve tagged all the ones that are, and there are a lot of ’em! Chocolate lovers unite, right? 🙂

Whisperinggums: I thought that was rather clever of Kath too 🙂 And thanks Mum – you gave me a boost that day when you saw me 🙂

Lorraine: Wow, I wish I hadn’t been eating oatmeal when I read that. Has there ever been a story more deserving of the word “ew”? I think not. *shudder*

GmaSydney: Thank you 🙂 I think today’s tutorials went ever better, so that’s good! And Mum is pretty amazing; she definitely keeps me sane!

  13. Agnes

That must be it – that’ll learn you!

  14. Simply Life

sorry about the toe – those yummy snacks would definitely put me in a better mood! 🙂

  15. croquecamille

The “chocolate” on those “bites” looks awful Gyeah. But your boots look awesome, and your socks are so cute! If you have to go the socks-and-stocks route, at least you’re making the most of it!

  16. Baking Serendipity

Don’t shoes totally just change your attitude for the entire day? Seriously, it’s mind-boggling the power they have 🙂

  17. Amber Shea @Almost Vegan

Mmm, glazed nuts! Don’t get me started… ;D

    I like the boots!!

Wait, those choc chip cookie dough bites are from CVS, shitty drugstore extraordinaire?! Maybe I need to run down the street really quick…

  18. Hannah

Agnes: Duly chastised. Plus, they’re expensive again, so I can’t justify buying more anyway. Back to broccoli and carrots!

Simply Life: Snacks can help 🙂

Camille: There was no discernible chocolate flavour in those “bites” at all! Thank you – the sock are from Japan, and the white hearts dangling from the sides have “happy” written on them 🙂

Baking Serendipity: Agreed, and sadly they’ve been pulling my mood down for the past year – so sick of Birkenstocks!

Amber: Yep,*that* CVS indeed! But I think you’d be much better off creating your own cookie dough bites with your brand-new raw chocolate 🙂 I have complete faith in your delicious-making abilities 😀

  19. Conor @ HoldtheBeef

I think the real lesson here is: when faced with a crappy situation, add miniature pompoms. Problem solved.

Mr Toe, you are making me upset! You wouldn’t like to see me when I’m upset!

  20. Hannah

Conor: Did I mention that the little pompoms are heart-shaped and say “happy” on them? GOLD. And thank you for your threats. I really wish they’d work 🙁 Was at the doctor yesterday and they did things and apparently it’s better if I don’t even look down until I go back to them on Monday…

  21. Amber Shea @Almost Vegan

You are BRILLIANT! I can use my raw chocolate, when still in its liquid form, to coat the cookie dough truffles like I made in this post! The perfect fusion of vibrantly healthful raw food and soy-ful vegan junk food, bwahaha.

    1. Hannah

That’s *exactly* the recipe I was thinking of! We really are the same person. 😉 Except for some cruel reason you get to be the part of us with the raw chocolate covered cookie dough, and I’m the part of us with the stupid toe. Unfairsies.

  22. Clint

    My dearest Hannah,
I’m so distraught to hear of your wailing toe – I had hoped it would be mended by now. If there is anything I can do to make you feel better, i.e., send US chocolate confections, please let me know! I follow you on here as much as time allows and it’s really such a treat – you’re an amazing person and your posts bring a smile to my face every time I read them. Best wishes to you and your toe. I say a prayer that you are comfortably in bodacious boots by September. Ta-ta for now!
    Clint

      Dear Clint,
I cannot express how utterly and completely you made my day with your comment. I had no idea you even read my little bits and pieces here, and to suddenly find out not only that you do, but to have this “finding” gift-wrapped in such lovely words? You made me tear up a little (and I’m currently at the National Library, which means that if anyone asks I’m going to have to pretend I was emotionally moved by Durkheim’s conceptualisation of the anomic society).
Thank you for your prayers 🙂 Perhaps you could hope I get into my brand-new New York heels, which I’ve only been able to look at? 😉
I hope you’re having a wonderful week equal to your wonderful self, and, um, your chocolate confections idea? I would absolutely love to send you some Aussie treats, so if you’re game, we could do a swap..? 😀 😀

  23. Johanna

I wish I could have been in the impression management 101 tute – am sure it would have been fascinating – maybe you could put up an explanation of the toe and socks and sandals on your door for people to read before coming in to see you! Hope the day when you can wear the boots is not too far away

    1. Hannah

I wish you had been too – it would’ve been nice to have a face that I knew was friendly there! Though really, they were a lovely group and I have high hopes for the semester. Thanks for your well-wishes, I long for boots-wearing too!

    Dearest Hannah,
Thrilled to know that I brought a smile to your already beautiful face! I hope to see a photo of you sporting your NY heels very soon. I would love to do an Aussie/American treat swap my dear…. You’re on!

    1. Hannah

Oh gosh, you make me so happy that I want to steal you and keep you on my shelf for always. But that would be a terrible thing to do to all the people in America who rely on your charm and musical abilities in their day-to-day lives. 🙂

I shall email you soon about the treat swap once I’ve thought of some good Aussie things to send you. Start thinking whether there’s anything you’ve heard of that you’d like!
